Case Western University Health Sciences Center Parking Garage scheduled for restoration

The two-level parking garage at the Case Western University Health Sciences Center in Cleveland, Ohio, was originally constructed in 1966. It was built in combination with, and wraps around, a number of university medical buildings. Areas within the garage are located above critical laboratory space and a multi-story tower was added above the garage since the original construction. In addition, the garage has a landscaped rooftop plaza. The University contracted with the Cleveland office of Carl Walker to conduct a condition appraisal that would review the condition of this unique facility/garage and present recommendations for repairs and maintenance. Carl Walker subsequently produced a report detailing findings, conclusions, restoration recommendations and estimates of probable cost.

Carl Walker is currently developing bidding documents, including detailed drawings and specifications, for the repairs recommended in the evaluation report. Once this phase is complete, the company has been retained to provide construction administration and monitoring services. Bidding is anticipated in April, 2009, with construction expected to begin the following month.

The Carl Walker team members working on the project include: Sara B. Peters, P.E. (Project Manager); Mark Sampson, P.E. (Principal and Restoration Specialist); Kurtis Taylor (Design Engineer); and Josh Tyler (CAD Technician).
