Lansing, Michigan

This plaza consisted of 88,000 square foot of pedestrian and limited vehicle surface areas over occupied space and a parking structure. The original plaza surface included tree wells penetrating through the structural slab and surface plantings above the membrane. The 20 year old existing surface, which disintegrated badly from freezing and thawing influences, was removed to the surface of the cast-in-place conventionally reinforced structural slab.
Restoration Description
- A new system including; complete new membrane system, subsurface drainage/ isolation layer, cast-in-place floating slab, brick paving, including a snow melting system.
- Structural reconfiguration of certain deep well planters to become new walking areas.
- Installation of a compete subsurface drainage system.
- New (two stage) expansion and isolation joints.
