Located on the Museum's north side, this underground
parking structure replaces a previous sea of vehicles in a surface
parking lot with an inviting, landscaped park that returns the site to
its original historic setting. The replacement parking underground
consists of three levels of parking containing 1,502 spaces and offers
convenient access to the Museum for Museum visitors.
Underground, the parking facility doubles as a new main entrance to the Museum. Central cashiers are provided for garage and Museum entry fees, along with inclined elevators, escalators, and closed-circuit television for pedestrian comfort and safety. In addition, an historic Zephyr train exhibit located within the center pedestrian spine of the garage adds a dramatic focal point for the underground facility.
