Johnson City Medical Center's Employee Parking Structure Is Complete

Carl Walker, Inc., a nationally recognized consultant in the parking industry, announces the completion of a new employee parking structure at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.

This simple but elegant facility includes 860 parking spaces for hospital staff. Designed in collaboration with architect Neighboring Concepts, this all-precast parking structure has a simple but attractive design. The perimeter precast cladding features an architectural mix and a reveal pattern that complements a nearby hospital addition. The lower portions of the structure feature hand-laid stone in reference to the mountain setting of Johnson City.

To facilitate convenient pedestrian movement from the parking structure to the hospital, a 400-foot-long elevated connector was included in the design.

Carl Walker provided prime design services and performed project planning, structural engineering, parking consulting, and functional design with in-house staff and managed the project from the Charlotte, N.C. office. The project team consisted of architect Neighboring Concepts and MEP consultant AME Consulting Engineers, both based in Charlotte. The civil engineer was Johnson City-based Tysinger Hampton & Partners. The general contractor was Skanska USA and the precast manufacturer was Tindall Corporation.

Recognized as one of the most respected and experienced companies in the parking industry, Carl Walker, Inc. operates 10 offices nationwide that specialize in parking planning, parking structure design and the restoration of parking structures, plazas and facades.
