Carl Walker was hired to develop revenue projections and operating expenses for a 995 space parking structure at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. The parking facility is part of a $268 million convention center expansion that will double the size of the existing convention facility. The parking garage will be used by event patrons, downtown employees and, space permitting, a 1,100 room convention hotel.
The expansion will allow the City of Denver to compete with other major cities for the largest conventions and will pump millions of dollars into the local economy. The original convention center has no on-site parking. Convention patrons are currently parking in private lots and garages surrounding the facility.
