A balanced, linked and sustainable multimodal transportation system that includes both parking and alternative transportation options is crucial to maintaining the quality of life in Downtown Atlanta. In an effort to improve parking and commute options, Central Atlanta Progress recently engaged a team comprised of Carl Walker and UrbanTrans to conduct a parking and transportation study for the central business district. The study included in-depth data collection, research, analysis, and stakeholder involvement. The result was an implementation plan that prioritized the parking needs of Downtown Atlanta and identified specific supply and demand-side actions needed to address short-term and long-term issues related to both parking and the promotion of alternative transportation modes.
