Shared Parking Analysis

Carl Walker was asked to perform a full analysis of the parking and transportation system and to participate in an update of the Campus Master Plan. A significant element of this parking planning was a detailed shared parking analysis conducted for the University Village area.

We developed a 20-Year Parking Master Plan that was integrated into the Campus Master Plan update. Key tasks included:

  • Evaluate existing parking conditions, including sufficiency and utilization patterns.
  • Project future parking needs for the University Village, using "shared parking" principles appropriate for a mixed use development.
  • Project future campus-wide parking needs.
  • Identify appropriate strategies for the location of new parking capacity.
  • Identify improvement options for the campus transportation system.
  • Assess strategies and methods for parking and traffic management associated with major Convocation Center events.
  • Assess traffic impacts associated with changes in the location of future parking facilities.
  • Assess current system management strategies and policies, including allocation, enforcement and pricing.
  • Develop a financial assessment for future parking expansions.
